Meet the founder

Francesca

A calm, practical trainer with extensive hands-on experience helping dogs and their people live well together.

Francesca works with dogs at every stage of life, including adult and older dogs whose behavioural issues are affecting life at home or out on walks. Her work is rooted in observation, clarity and kindness: understanding the dog, the household and the habits shaping everyday life.

For many years, she has successfully trained and handed over companion dogs to their families, alongside welcoming many dogs for residential training stays. She understands the care, consistency and preparation involved in helping a dog settle into the life they will share with their owners.

Her approach is warm but exacting: thoughtful training, honest guidance and standards that hold beyond the lesson. Houndkind brings that experience into a deeply personal service for families who want lasting change and a trusted relationship with their dog.

A companion who understands the life you share, and a family who understands them in return.

Experience shaped by real life

From the earliest days
to a world of possibilities.

Companions for exceptional lives

Francesca has trained dogs who live aboard superyachts and travel by aeroplane and helicopter. This experience brings an understanding of the preparation involved when a companion’s life extends beyond the family home, with unfamiliar environments, people and routines to navigate.

Care from the very beginning

Having assisted with the births of many litters, Francesca has hands-on experience of dogs from their earliest days. Alongside her work with puppies, she supports adolescent, adult and older dogs, tailoring training to the individual and the stage of life they are in.

A nose for learning

Francesca also has extensive experience in scent work, giving dogs an outlet for their natural ability to search and explore through scent. It is another way to engage a dog’s mind and develop the working relationship between dog and handler.

Part of family life

Francesca shares her country home with her husband, their young children, her two dogs and the family cat. Her dogs are regularly socialised with residential visitors, and the cat is also accustomed to visiting dogs. Visiting dogs also gain exposure to horses, sheep, ducks and chickens in this rural setting, with appropriate supervision and introductions suited to each dog’s temperament and readiness. This everyday experience of family and country life helps inform her practical approach to preparing well-mannered companions.
